Who is excited about fun classroom décor and theme ideas for 2024? This girl! While I fully understand that decorating your classroom and having a theme is not for everyone, some of us really thrive in making the learning environment fun and relevant by having a décor theme! And we need ideas! So, I have curated some super fun trends that can be done without spending a ton of money!
First up, Taylor’s Version! Here is a mood board I put together with some ideas for an Era’s Tour-themed classroom. The fun thing about this is that it can be subtle or not. Just have fun!
Pinterest is bursting with inspiration for this theme! Plus, there are several TPT sellers with Taylor Swift-themed classroom resources like borders, bulletin board sets, and expectation posters. If it were my classroom, I would DIY a large friendship bracelet to hang, put up disco ball string lights, find a funky checkered rug, neon sign, and TSwift pillow, create a ticket stub hall pass, and make sure the room was bursting with encouraging messages from Taylor herself! Messages like:
- In Our Learning Era
- Math Never Goes Out of Style
- Are you ready for Geometry?
- You Make The Whole Class Shimmer
- You Are Fearless
- It’s me, hi. I’m the mathematician, it’s me!
I’m so obsessed with this classroom décor theme that I need someone to do it so I can live vicariously through them! It’s sure to be a hit (Hah! Get it?!) among the students!

Ok, this may be my favorite theme idea for 2024. Is it because I get to relive my childhood? Maybe. It’s just so fun and the 90s are having a little comeback right now, making it on trend!
When I think about the 90s, I think about boy bands, bright colors and patterns, all the fun toys, and just a laid-back vibe. It screams classroom, right? Haha really though, this theme can come together quickly with just a few key pieces!
I think a lava lamp and an inflatable piece of furniture are a must! And a bulletin board that looks like a composition notebook would be perfect and super easy (they sell composition notebook bulletin board paper!). For knick-knacks, it would be totally rad 😉 to find some vintage 90s toys – think beanie babies, slinkies, troll dolls, Gameboys, etc. And if it’s in the budget…a blue-tooth speaker that looks like a boom box! Some other fun ideas include:
- a wall full of CDs that students decorate (would make a great first week of school activity)
- cassette tape hall passes
- a Blockbuster bulletin board that displays 5⭐ assignments and tests
- a rewards box full of 90s-themed goodies! Pencil erasers, anything Lisa Frank, click-it pens, mini slinkies, stickers galore, slap bracelets, and so much more!!
Throughout the years I’ve moved classrooms, grade levels, and schools many times, plus redecorated “just because” on more than one occasion, but one classroom theme stands above the rest. HARRY POTTER. It was the absolute most fun classroom ever! And this one never goes out of style!
While you may think decorating a classroom with a Harry Potter theme would be hard, it’s really pretty easy! The Hogwarts house colors are primary colors, so almost any educational supply can be found in the color scheme. Because Hogwarts is an old castle, you can easily thrift some fun seating options and rugs for a cozy feel. Throw in some lantern lighting and floating candles and you will be instantly transported to the wizarding world!
Other easy (though a little time-consuming) DIYs for a Harry Potter theme include a brown kraft paper tree and brick peel & stick wallpaper! If you still need help imagining a Harry Potter classroom, Pinterest has TONS of inspiration!
I miss my Harry Potter classroom so much (I’ve since moved schools two times), so if you decide to use this theme PLEASE send me pictures so I can live vicariously through you and talk about our love for Harry Pi-tter! 😉

I also made a quick YouTube video about these themes plus threw in a few ideas for a couple more trendy themes. If you’d like to watch, please check it out here!
